Photos: Opening night of the Take-a-STAND Dialogues

The first Take-a-STAND Dialogues were opened on Friday night, 19 February, by the Stellenbosch University Rector, Prof Wim de Villiers, and the Dutch Ambassador, Han Peters.

The internationally acclaimed dancer-choreographer Gregory Maqoma delivered the keynote address, “Theatre for whom? Dance for what?”. His moving meditation on the vital role of theatre and dance in the contemporary world was received with thundering applause.

The event was hosted by the STAND (Sustaining Theatre and Dance) Foundation and the SU Woordfees in 44 Ryneveld – the name and address of a new venue in Stellenbosch. The gathering was made possible by the generous support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and NATi..
